Sandwhich Shannanigans

Esquire Magazine recently wrote an article which rated sandwiches across the U.S. Well, Cafe Muse was voted as having one of the best sandwiches polled by Esquire I just tried looking up the rating and could not find it. ANYWAY, I heard this rumor through some friends that Gayle King, Oprah's BFF would be heading here to taste the sandwich herself. Unfortunately I did not get to meet Gayle King, but I did head over there myself to try the grilled cheese. YUMMY! I was able to persuade a friend of mine to take off work to go with me! I had the week off of school and was ready to go solo but at the last minute, Colleen called in sick. :) Yay! It was a fun afternoon of lunch and perusing through the downtown area. Here are some pictures of us eating the Grilled Cheese. I also looked on Oprah's website and they had the recipe So you can try it at home. Deliciouso.

Serves 1

Café Muse's Grilled Cheese Sandwich This recipe is a gourmet twist on an old favorite—there’s no cheddar cheese in sight for chef Greg Reyner!
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 slice Havarti cheese
  • 1 slice mozzarella cheese
  • 1 slice Danish fontina cheese
  • 1/2 Tbsp butter, softened (for best results, use high-quality butter)
  • Honey from a squeeze bear bottle
  • 1 tsp. fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 slices tomato
  • 2 slices bread (organic multigrain bread works best)
  • Sauté pan large enough for 2 slices of bread

Butter bread on one side with melted butter. Place in pan, butter side down, over medium-low heat. Place mozzarella on one half of the bread and fontina and Havarti on the other. Cook until golden on bottom and cheese begins to melt. Place tomato on mozzarella side and honey on fotina/Havarti side. Place under broiler for a few minutes to heat up tomato. Sprinkle basil and assemble sandwich.

Yumness.

Wrigley's Graduation

Last night, Wrigley graduated from Trainers Academy. She now has a certificate stating she passed the intermediate course. It was pretty cute, they played "Pomp and Circumstance" and then posed for a class picture. Here is her picture in her graduation hat and with her new friends.
