Ryan and I had our second Raclette Party last weekend. We love hosting these get togethers for a few reasons:
1. You are able to entertain 4 couples at one time.
2. Usually a TON of wine is consumed during the party.
3. It was a wedding gift from Chris and Ang. Sedar.
4. It is soooo easy and the host/hostess does not have to cook. Your guests do the cooking themselves!
Anyway, it is difficult to explain exactly what a Raclette actually is.. for anyone reading this you can check out this website which shows the exact model that we have

I will try and do some explaining for those of you not wanting to check out the website but are fascinated with the idea of hosting a party where you do not have to cook :)
Here are the steps: Get yourself a Raclette Grill. The grill serves 8 people, next marinade some chicken and beef, chop up the veggies. We use mushrooms, green peppers, onions, garlic etc. Buy some cheese this is where you can become very adventurous. The first Raclette experience we had was over at the Sedar's. The "traditional" way to serve the dinner is with the cheese that the grill is named after: Raclette. According to the tradition of the grill, back in the day farmers would eat the cheese and heat it over a fire. One day, the cheese stayed near the fire too long and melted and a new dish was born!!! There is a cheese named Raclette which actually tastes very good, however it is a tad smelly. Anyway in the past we have used Muenster, Gouda, and Swiss. You put all your veggies and potatoes on a tray to heat up while your meat cooks on top. It is sort of "founduish" but I think a little more entertaining and sooo much fun.
Anyway, here are some pictures of the aftermath of Raclette. After we ate and consumed way too many bottles of good wine, we decided a fun game of Sink the Biz was in order, really when isn't Sink the Biz in order?
