Mutt Strut

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was in Indy for the weekend. I went there to walk with some friends in the Mutt Strut. This was quite an experience. We were able to walk on the Indianapolis 500 track! All proceeds went to the Humane Society in Indy. Wrigley met some new friends, Delta and Cocoa, Cousin Kona was there and Wrigley #2. Every dog you could possibly imagine was at the event. Wrigley is pretty submissive but she overcame her shyness and did fantastic! Here are the pictures from the strut. We could not have had better weather for the event!

Whirlwind Weekend

This past weekend Ryan and I were on separate mini vacations. He headed to D.C. (again) and I went to Indianapolis. This was a "Whirlwind Weekend" for me. I have this week off and I am trying to cram as much as I can into the week. Anyway, I went to Indy and I was able to visit with my girlfriends from college, my brother his wife and Chris, and Sara's mom Babbs was in town too, so I was able to see her. HI BABBS! Basically whenever I get together with my old roommates from college, it's like we never left, except they all live at different houses. I arrived to Indy around noon and made my first stop to Kristen's house, I had the dog with me so it was kind of hard on everyone. Wrigley's a great dog, but I just felt bad hauling her everywhere we went. So, at Kristen's house we quickly caught up on our gossip and headed over to Sari's house to drop off my dog. After that we picked up Shanni saw all the hard work her and her husband have put into their house and headed to grab some lunch. We met up with Babbs and Sari and had lunch at Nickleplate which was awesome. As we are eating Shanni and Krissy tell me about their new obsession.

EYEBROW THREADING.

I have wanted to try this for awhile so after we ate, I was game. Here are the pictures from this hilarious event. Babbs got her eyebrows done too! Way to step it up Babbs!! So to make this long story short, I think I have found a new obsession.

No pain! The culprits in the back watching

This one made my eyes tear up a little.

Cheers to the Earth!

Happy Earth Day!
Today I was trying to think of all the ways we are trying to do our part to make this a better earth, and a better place for our environment. I am proud to say that we have been making an effort to try and "go green". These are some ways that we have "gone green" and some things I am looking forward to incorporating into our daily lives.

Things we do now:

1. We recycle our cans
2. Recycle the newspaper
3. Changed all of our light bulbs
4. Use reusable bags at the grocery store
5. I try to recycle as many glass bottles as I can
6. Put our names on a list to stop some of the paper mail we receive

Things I look forward to doing:
1. Recycling more in our household items such as paper, bottles etc.
2. Use organic products such as deodorant, and lotion
3. Start a compost pile ( I really have do some more research on this one)
4. Start to buy some organic groceries, such as eggs and veggies
5. Try to grow a garden this year with some of our own produce: green peppers, and tomatoes

I am proud to say that my parents have set an awesome example for me to follow. I remember growing up we were taught to save water by turning it off while we brushed our teeth. (I am trying to teach Ryan how to do this.) They also have a compost pile, which I thought was kind of gross but it really is using "waste", which will hopefully help my plants this year. They also grow and can their own veggies in the summer which we benefit from all through the winter.
So I know I have a huge list of things I would like to start to incorporate here so I am going to try and start small. I'll keep you updated on the "going green" changes.

Bunny & Scooter

I love this! These are our names, "Preppy Style". Can you just picture me calling out, "Oh Scooter, could you please pick up the dog poop!"

Your Preppy Name Is...

Sutton Brighton Oakleigh the Sixth

But most people know you as Bunny

American Idol

I almost forgot!! I have been meaning to talk about A.I. I know it's really late because we are already in the "thick" of it however, I am making a prediction. Last week my prediction was right. Unfortunately, because I did like R. I am just waiting for Kristy Lee Cook to say goodbye, but I don't think its her time. I am predicting..... Carly. Boo. I really like her so lets see what happens tonight!

Wrigley

I am shocked that I have not mentioned Wrigley on the blog! I always talk about her at school but I completely forgot to talk about what we have been doing with her! Well, Wriggs, the best dog ever is taking classes in the area. I signed her up for these classes, not because she is a bad dog, I signed her up because I would love to have her become a therapy dog. The classes meet on Thursday evenings, this will be our 3rd class. Ryan has been able to go to the first two with us, but tonight he won't be able to go. Anyway, she has been doing really well. If you have ever met Wriggs, then you know she can be a very submissive dog, (except around my parent's dog Emma) she is so gentle and her biggest pleasure in life is getting attention from any human being. She is not really interested in other dogs but she loves people! Well, after we took her to her first class, which uses a clicker type of reinforcement, I was really discouraged because she was afraid of the clicker! She really is a pansy but I think that is why I love her even more... sometimes. Anyway, Ryan worked with her the rest of the week trying to warm her up to the clicker and she is getting it! I feel bad because we haven't really practiced this week so I hope she does okay tonight at class. When we go to class she does not like the treats that the trainers give her, she always spits them out which is pretty funny. Anyway, I thought I would just update you on our schedules, when Ryan gets home we can videotape some of her knew "tricks". We only have a few more classes so hopefully she will graduate! :)

She loves licking the dishwasher! I think she was trying to help me in this picture :)

Um... how cute is this picture?

Vegas Baby!

We took our first trip to Vegas this past Spring, with our good friends, The Slaters you can check out their blog from ours. Anyway, it was a great time. We gambled, laid out, had some Margarita's at Jimmy Buffet's restaurant, went to some casinos, and watched the fountains. We did not see anyone famous, unless you count our visit to the Wax Museum which turned out to be pretty fun. We went to the Blue Man Group which was phenomenal. If you get a chance to see this show I would recommend it. We also went to a show called, "Tina and Tony's Wedding". Thankfully we did not pay for these tickets, it was cute and a neat concept for a show however, at times it was a little awkward. I will set the scene for you. You arrive and you are immediately introduce to the "groom" and you get your picture taken before you walk into the Ceremony/Reception. You are also introduced to the Grandpa, sister any relatives of the Bride and Groom. The show consists of the actors and actresses but YOU are also a part of the experience. This is the awkward part, I love weddings as much as the next girl, but you soon find out the people who wanted to be on Broadway, because they are soon "in character" with the actors and actresses. This was something I just couldn't get into. I guess I was just not cut out for Broadway. Anywho, these are some of the pictures from our trip. Julie also posted some on her blog. Enjoy--- The Greene/Slater Family Vacation :)

We went to this Awesome nightclub, which had an incredible of view of Vegas. The club had an outside bar and inside bar. This was taken on the step just to show you how windy it was in this location.

Before flying out to Vegas we were able to hang out and catch up with a few of my old roommates. Whenever we get together, we always have a great time. Here are some pictures of the girls, Shannon was showing us a new "voo doo" trick she learned :)
